Template Update Day
Today is template update day. I'm trying to add everything I can think of
to my blogroll.
Oh - and I just made an executive decision to add my flickr photostream to
slisblogs.com. Anyone with a similar hunk of data - send it in!
Now I just have to make sure that my photos don't bite...
Happy Birthday, Blog Research On Genre project!
Happy birthday wishes -- and wishes for many more -- to our very own BROG
[Blog Research On Genre] project. I had forgotten, but Susan and Lois have
reminded me. ;)
Our project, starting from humble beginnings, has been audaciously
successful. We've done well at stirring up debate and discussion,
particularly where qualitative researchers are concerned. [They typically
don't really appreciate content analytic methodologies, it seems -- which is
kind of crazy. We're reporting *what's there*, not what we *think* is
there.]
I'm not terribly sure what the project's future trajectory is going to look
like - not because the project is uncertain, but because I'm not sure what
our "accidental successes" are going to be. :) Things seem to be moving
onward and upward on all fronts.
How to Select a Conference
I'm trying to work out (or 'work up', which means basically the same thing)
a list of conferences that I think are crucial or critical for me to attend.
Problem: Conferences cost a lot of money.
Problem 2: I don't have very much.
Problem 3: I'm interested in too many areas, and have trouble narrowing to
select something really appropriate.
At this point, the conferences I've enjoyed the most have been Sunbelt,
HICSS, and a couple of the Computers and Writing conferences. Less
enjoyment from ICA, the CCCCs, and AoIR. [That's not a judgement against
those conferences - lots of factors played into my enjoyment or lack thereof
in every case.]
Last year I didn't do a whole lot of conference travel. A few big ones, not
so many little ones. This year is probably going to be very similar.
